“Marnie is really good and very professional! Really easy to talk to, and she made me feel very comfortable throughout. I would highly recommend her to anyone. As a professional boxer, Marnie really helped to keep my mind focused in camp and with everyday life problems. Really grateful and very happy with our work together — 10/10.”
“I've been working with Marnie now for 3 months and her work has massively helped me out in my fights and in my training leading up to a fight, working on everything that needs improvement to get the best performance I can. I've gained a lot in a short space of time working with Marnie. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to improve their mindset and performance — she's very good at what she does.”
“Way back at the end of 2011, I was fortunate enough to sign my second semi-professional rugby league contract. Even though it was my second, I still hadn't made my debut as a first-teamer. The season starts and still no sign of selection. A few more games pass and still living in the hope that I'll be selected. It had put my mindset in a place where I'd convinced myself that the error made was going to result in my name not being called up. It's like I was constantly on one life, a lot like playing Crash Bandicoot. We ended up halfway through the season and I threw in the towel. I even asked for a release but was encouraged to stay, as I was told my time would come. At the same time I was advised to speak to Marnie Merrilees, High Performance Psychologist. Marnie offered her services to the club and it was a turning point on a personal level. She helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses as a player and what I could do to work on them from a mental perspective. I'm my own worst critic, so making simple errors on the training ground wasn't acceptable, especially when you're not getting selected. For the time I spent with Marnie, she did help me shift this mentality and learn to not get hung up on the mistakes made. It's still hard because of the high standards I set for myself, but she helped me see things from a different perspective. 12 years on and I'm still working off the same model from back when we were first introduced. The competitive arena is a lot different now, competing in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, but I absolutely love the vulnerability of it. Words can't describe what it felt like to win, but I'm at a place where losing is something I can get over pretty quickly: learn from the mistakes and build on what we did well. Marnie laid down the foundation for me and I'm forever grateful. If you're an athlete outside of your day job and are looking for that extra edge to tap into your performance, then I'd highly recommend speaking to Marnie.”
